A Guide to Accommodation, Activities, Restaurants & Businesses in Midrand, South Africa
Midrand is located between Centurion and Sandton in central Gauteng in South Africa. Midrand has good access to highways and as a result has seen a large amount of growth in recent years with many companies relocating to the area. Midrand has its own airport, Grand Central Airport and a Gautrain station.
Midrand’s growth means that there is now little break between the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria and some say that soon there will be no gap between them at all with only one large metropolitan area instead. Midrand is home to large-scale industries such as textiles and motor vehicles, and has the largest conference centre in the country, Gallagher Estate, which hosts a wide range of events and expos throughout the year.
Accommodation is available to guests in the area, ranging from guest houses to bed and breakfasts as well as hotels and lodges. Please view our accommodation directory for more information on what is available.
Although Midrand itself does not offer the widest range of things to do, its location makes it a great spot from which to experience all the surrounding areas including Johannesburg, Sandton, Centurion and Pretoria.
Midrand is home to the Transvaal Snake park - The world's largest collection of African snakes.
Other activities to do area include:
- Lory Park Animal and Owl Sanctuary
- Shopping centres
